What to Expect
For all therapies, you will be asked to complete a confidential health questionnaire and discuss what your therapy is for, any health problems, stress, etc., For a massage therapy session you will be asked to remove your clothing. The therapist will leave the room while you undress. You should take off only as much as you are comfortable removing. You should also remove any jewelry or other articles that might interfere with the massage. A sheet and blanket is provided for comfort and draping during the massage. The therapist will uncover only the part of the body being massaged, insuring that modesty is respected at all times. The massage takes place on a comfortable, padded massage table. In a CranioSacral session, the client is fully clothed and the therapy is carried out on the massage table. For a Thai Massage, the client is fully clothed and this therapy will be done on a massage table or on a thick mat on the floor. Loose, comfortable fitting clothing like track pants or yoga pants and a tee-shirt should be worn to allow the body to move freely. For a Thai Foot Massage the client is fully clothed. Shorts or loose pants that easily roll up past the knee should be worn. Expect a peaceful and comfortable environment for the massage. Music will be played during the massage. Some people find music playing to be relaxing, some find it distracting. If you don't like music playing, ask for it to be changed or turned off. Massage is a wonderful way to relieve stress, promote healing of your body and mind and recover from injury or chronic pain. In practice for centuries, different techniques have been developed. In the last few years, the world has experienced a revival of interest in massage, as people turn to new (or rather ancient) methods for relieving pain, stress and anxiety. |
